Initial Cessna 208 Caravan Type Rating

Course Aims

The aim of C208 Caravan Type Rating course is to train a pilot to the level proficient to demonstrate the knowledge of aircraft systems and to fly the aircraft to the level that enables the applicant to apply to UCAA for C208 type rating inclusion on his pilot’s license.

Course Duration

The ground training for C208 TTR shall be covered in a period of not less than 2 weeks and not more than 4 weeks.

The flight training shall be not less than one week and not more than eight weeks.

Pre-entry Requirements

Before admission, an applicant:

Must be at least 18 years of age
Hold a valid Class 1 medical certificate
Be at least a holder of a valid and current CPL
Enrollment

Enrollment

Upon enrollment, an applicant will fill out an official application form and shall have with them the following:

  • Four (4) passport photographs.
  • A logbook endorsement from authorized instructor.
  • Validated photocopy of high School certificate or equivalent diploma.
  • Validated photocopy of ID or passport.
  • Valid Class 1 Medical Certificate.
  • A deposit of at least 40% of the total tuition fees for the course.
  • Copy of Birth Certificate.

Course Details

The course shall comprise

  • Theoretical training: To instruct the students on the general aircraft systems, normal and abnormal procedures.
  • Practical flight training: To instruct the student on how to handle the aircraft in a safe manner.

Theoretical Training

The theoretical training is conducted from Monday to Friday, 08:30am to 01:00pm.

The course will comprise eight (8) theoretical subjects, 250 hours of instruction (1 hour = 60 minutes instruction), which includes formal classroom work, progress tests, and sample exams. The eight (8) subjects are analyzed as follows:
