Training Courses

Private Flight Training

The flight training shall comprise a total of at least 45 hours. Within the total of 45 hours, applicants shall complete:

At least 35 hours of dual instruction
At least 10 hours of supervised solo flight time

Course Aims

The aim of the PPL (A) course is to train the student pilot to fly safely and efficiently under Visual Flight Rules. At the completion of the course, the student will be eligible for issue of a Private Pilot License under the Civil Aviation (Personnel Licensing) Regulations, 2022, as amended.

Course Duration

The course shall last not less than six (6) months and not more than twenty-four (24) months.

Course Aims

Pre-entry Requirements

An applicant for PPL (A) must be at least 17 years of age. Hold a valid Class 2 medical certificate from an approved medical doctor. Have a minimum of two principal passes at A’ Level or equivalent. Have a minimum score of 70% in the BAR Aviation Academy Aptitude Test.

Enrollment

Enrollment

Upon enrollment, an applicant will fill out an official application form and shall have with them the following:

  • Twelve (12) passport photographs.
  • Validated photocopy of high School certificate or equivalent diploma.
  • Validated photocopy of ID or passport.
  • Commitment letter of Sponsorship from the Sponsor or student in case he or she is sponsoring themselves.
  • Validated copy of ID or passport of the Sponsor.
  • Valid Class 2 Medical Certificate.
  • A deposit of at least 40% of the total tuition fees for the course.
  • Copy of Birth Certificate.

Course Details

The course shall comprise

  • Theoretical training: To instruct the students in a pure theoretical principle.
  • Practical flight training: To instruct the student in the execution of the theoretical and practical principle.

Theoretical Training

The theoretical training is conducted from Monday to Friday, 08:30am to 01:00pm.

The course will comprise nine (9) theoretical subjects, 160 hours of instruction (1 hour = 60 minutes instruction), which includes formal classroom work. The theoretical subjects are analyzed as follows:

A) APPLICATION FEE FOR:

  1. The Interview Process;
    i. Aptitude Test
    ii. Oral Interview
    iii. Simulator assessment flight
  2. The application process upon passing the interview.

Requirements:

  • Academic documents (Student should have a minimum of a High School Diploma with at least 2 principal passes in any subject).
  • A filled-out Academy application form
  • Medical Exam on appointment with an Aviation Doctor
  • A filled-out Student Pilot’s License Application Form with a fee of 36,000/= payable to the UCAA
  • 3 filled-out AVSEC clearance forms
  • 12 passport photographs
  • Copy of National ID/Passport
  • Sponsor’s copy of National ID/Passport
  • Sponsorship Commitment Letter

B) FIRST PAYMENT (34% of the total cost upon enrollment)

This includes;

  1. Functional/Administration Fees
  2. Ground School
  3. Student Kit
  4. Uniform
  5. Examination Fees – CASOA (Theory exams), Final General Flight Test (GFT).

(Admission of the student is only confirmed after the first installment is made and the student presents the proof of payment to the school Administrator)

C) SECOND PAYMENT (40% of the total cost)

This is payable in the second month and includes;

  1. Initial Flight Training up to 10 hours.
  2. Advanced Flight Training up to 28 hours.

This is payable in the third month and will cover the final training phases of the student pilot.
